Edition 399 Monday 02/10/17
Hi,school holidays used to herald the start of two weeks of
blissfully lighter traffic flows too and from work. Now however they signal panic
stations as we have to rearrange our work/ life balance to accommodate
entertaining our five year old new entrant for a fortnight!!!
I now know why parents plan these things well in advance
because they do tend to sneak up and bite you on the backside.
Fletcher
reckons he cant see any reason why we cant all have two weeks
holiday!!
Something
funny speaking of backsides poor old Christine got a shock on the
weekend when she slid down the face of the local skateboard ramp(wooden). It had
got so hot in the sun that it left a decent burn on her behind!Fletcher and I
were no use being unable to stand we were laughing so much!!(from a safe
distance….we resisted the 111 call J).
September ended on a celebratory note with Dads 80 odd
something birthday, its ok Dad they do say that 80 odd is the new 70 odd so
nothing odd to worry about there !!!
Our Cockateil Tom Tom accidentally (on purpose) missed his
last wing clipping appointment and is now able to fly at will through the
house. He has become so confident that he is attempting air acrobatics to the
delight of his fans (of which I am not one!).Yes that bird has the life of
Riley and the Red Baron!!....where is Snoopy when you need him!
I hope you have a great school holiday week ahead (think of
me)……….Cheers Jonesey.
Kate Henderson reckons Tom Tom is a bird brained show off but
oh to fly!!!

There is no better feeling
than being ‘in the zone’ no matter what you are doing!
Last week I hit a golden sales
patch where fortune favoured the brave and I was on fire!
It revolved around some
random cold calls that all turned to gold.
For a pleasant change I was
welcomed with open arms and a positive attitude.
As sales people we tend to
develop a siege/rejection mentality so when potential customers are open
friendly and honest it is like a breath of pure fresh air!!
My first call was to a
windscreen repairer who I was approaching to offer a windscreen recycling
service.I hit the jackpot as they had a big pile of windscreens in the yard and
were reluctant to dump them so I had the perfect solution and the sale was
made…YAY.
Enthused by this I saw a
‘leased’ sign just down the road and called in to meet the new business
representatives moving in. My timing was perfect and I received a last minute
opportunity to quote for their business. They were only 30 minutes from
appointing one of our competitors and were impressed that I had called in off
the street. In fact the General Manager even made the comment “Good to see the
art of cold calling is alive and well”!!!
I then called in on another
‘leased’ property and secured contact details of the new leasee’s to follow up
for their business and then finished this ‘in the zone’ cold calling feeding
frenzy by signing another windscreen repairer up for a recycling service.
This adrenaline pumping
mission took one hour and left me fizzing and enthused.
I have had some time to
think about this since in an effort to establish why it went so well and what I
can do in future to recreate the experience and outcome.
Sales is tough going so it
is important to overcome the challenges, enjoy and celebrate the good times and
learn from both……a lot like life really.
I have smiled the whole time
writing this,it has given me great pleasure to share it with you!
