Save our tree!

                                                                                       Edition 377 Monday 01/05/17

Hi,I reckon I am ok with most things and relatively hard to upset however something has got me going close to home! Our neighbours announced they intended to fell the 70 year plus Pohutukawa that sits on our boundary!!Unbelieveably it seems the new Council laws allow them to do this unless it is on our property!!We are currently busy attempting to prove this is the case in an 11th hour rescue mission to save this magnificent specimen!grrrrrrr

Fletcher reckons his new big boy bunk beds are cool and took his introduction to Anzac Day officialdom in his stride laying a wreath and supporting his Mum in style (see pics).

With all the best intentions in the world we were not able to mobilise in time to get to the dawn parade however the local ceremony turned out just as good(funny how things work out for the best sometimes).

Something funny happened when Barney and Rocko turned up at 48 again and Dad didn’t even notice or mind when he found out!!!...maybe we will get our own permanent Barney and Rocko soon??...............hmmmmm.

Whilst the extra days off have been great I am actually looking forward to getting back to the normality of a 5 day week for a change….and to hopefully get on top of the backlog!!

I hope you are going well and looking forward to a BIG week ahead……Cheers Jonesey

The Hendersons reckon they may blockade our tree to prevent the ‘big chop’!!

There is nothing like a Trademe auction to get the sales adrenaline flowing.
Buying or selling it is a cool vehicle for browsing or trading.
We talked last week about visiting a market and doing deals face to face.
Trademe gives you the opportunity to do the same deals but from the comfort of your own home or office without the ‘in your face’ aggro or stress.
We have been involved in the pursuit of some bunk beds for Fletcher and have missed out on several great sets as they have spiralled way out of our price range,
This made us even more determined to make sure we didn’t keep missing out so we got sharper and eventually ended up with an outstanding buy.
Yes it was a bit over budget but well worth the effort when we discovered the set we won was 3x the price the seller paid brand new only 12 months ago…….YES !!!! happy buyers!!!
I also like to run auctions for stuff that is surplus to our requirements and whilst this can do your head in at times it still provides a buzz and a thrill when a successful is made!
I currently have several things listed and always enjoy watching the bids mount as the auction close approaches.
So if you are a trader then you will know what I am on about, if you havent traded for a while then get trading and if you have never had a crack then maybe its time you did!!

Why not put all proceeds into saving towards something special you want or donate it every so often to a not for profit charity of your choice….wouldnt that be a cool thing to do?

So a couple of messages here…..if you are looking for something why not browse Trademe and if you are sick of looking at somethingh cluttering your home why not use Trademe?

Simple yet exhilarating ways to fine tune sales skills and have more or less stuff!!Good luck!

Intensity!

                                                                                       Edition 376 Monday 24/04/17

Hi,how often do you get the opportunity to have two x four day weekends in a row?….not very, so it pays to ‘seize the day’ which we have done.Yes we are one of the many who have added Monday to Anzac Tuesday for another nice weekend and an extra short week!! YAY !!

Speaking of Anzac day we are going to attend the Browns Bay dawn parade for the first time with Fletcher who has taken a particular interest this year. This is our favourite local Anzac Day event held at the beach from 6am with the backdrop of the sun rising and the waves gently lapping during what is always a moving and memorable service, lest we forget.

Fletcher reckons its only right that he also have the Monday off Daycare to keep an eye on Mummy and Daddy!!....he reckons we may be too excited about some time out together!!

Something funny happened last week when both myself and one of my colleagues turned up to a meeting wearing the same shirt!!Crikey what are the chances?....we were able to turn it to our advantage because the shirts were green check (trendy) and our customer thought it was our team uniform and even commented how sharp we looked haha J.

If you are keeping up with the Jonses by having Monday off as well, have a good one!

Reagardless have a good third short week of three oh yeah!!…………………Cheers Jonesey

We visited the Avondale Market on Sunday morning for another fascinating experience.
For a snapshot of Aucklands multi-cultural mix at its vibrant best this is a must.
Having not been for a while we were blown away…almost overawed by the intensity.
It was crowded and active as buyers and sellers bartered with each other for an amazing array of new and preloved items.
There were rides for the kids, fresh fruit and produce and fish stalls, lots of imported stuff (cheap) as well as the forever popular car boot (hidden treasure) sales section (My Fave).
If you ever wanted to know if you have what it takes as a buyer or seller then a local market is the place to go to test or fine tune/develop your skills.
One of things we have learned (Lesson #1) is you never pay the asking price and must always be willing to walk away from any deal.Lesson # 2 never think you will come back and  buy something later…you wont and if you do…it will be gone.
Whilst the market looks harmless enough there are some pretty slick operators there and they will charge you way too much if you are not on your game!!
It all sounds a bit full on but you have to remember that for a lot of these people the Sunday morning market is their main stream of weekly income hence the intensity!
I strongly recommend the experience for some fun, learning and a bargain or two.
We had fun although we never let go of Fletcher or let him out of our sight…it was a bit weird like that……yes we decided we need to and should get out more!!
So if you havent been then you need to because these people know how to ‘sell the sizzle’!!

Keeping it simple

                                                                                       Edition 375 Tuesday 18/04/17

Hi,I hope you had a happy Easter, how do you do nothing for four days?....quite simple it seems because we just did and it was extremely easy!We had all the best intentions in the world with plenty of tasks but never got there and I am so glad we didn’t.I guess its times like this that you realise just how tiring your normal schedule is and how much you need to have time out Crikey I have never ‘nana’ napped so much or felt so happy to do nothing so must have needed to….yes I did say and mean that!!!

We tagged teamed the naps and took turns entertaining our chocolate charged son.Yes the Easter bunny delivered big time but wondered why at times as we worked hard to neutralise the sugar rush with numerous activities designed to burn energy. For us it was all made worthwhile watching our son happily gifted a large % of his Easter bounty to others deciding that for him giving is just as good as receiving(From his Mums side she reckons of course)J.

Fletcher reckons he knew the Easter Bunny would deliver after scoring plenty of good boy points in the weeks leading up to the event.Life is simple sometimes Good =Gooder stuff!

Something funny about our second visit from Daycare Parakeets Barney and Rocko for the Easter weekend was Dad caught on more than one occasion chatting away to both!!This prompted Fletcher to officially announce that Barney liked Daddy but Rocko still wasn’t sure.

Just ever so quietly there is something warm and homely about having birds chirping away in the household background….yes I did say and mean that J.

Have a good second short week of three oh yeah!!…………………Cheers Jonesey

The thing about being ‘Upbeat’ is it doesn’t happen automatically you need a trigger!
That can come from us religously making the decision daily to be positive.
It can also come from those we choose to spend time with or do business with.
For example if you start your day talking to or meeting with positive people you will be uplifted and carry that forward into your day.
I try to make sure my first appointment every day is one I know has a high chance of resulting in a positive outcome. That allows me to build confidence before approaching more difficult tasks later in the day…we all know how hard it is the other way around.
So we agree creating a positive mood is essential to having an ‘Upbeat’ day.
I was reminded of this again last week after attending my fortnightly Toastmasters meeting.
I never fail to leave those meetings totally uplifted after being inspired by like minded individuals committed to being better communicators, listeners and leaders.
I wish I could attend a Toastmasters meeting everyday of the week because of the bullet proof confidence I always leave a meeting with.So how do we recreate this feeling daily?

I reckon we take this lead and surround ourselves with positive people who we can network and meet with regularly. This could be in the form of industry groups or assembled from hand picked friends, maybe even customers or business associates, anyone you know who you respect, admire or get a positive vibe from…..make the effort, you wont regret it!!

Dare I say it you could join a Toastmasters club but then you already knew that aye J!!
