Edition 72 Monday December 20th 2010
Hi , there are some who make things happen, there are others who watch them happen and then there are those left wondering what happened!? Harry and I were lucky enough to be part of a magnificent team ‘making it happen’ this weekend while most of Auckland including our many competitors slept.
Late Thursday we secured the right to provide services to the ocean liner Pacific Pearl in Auckland before her inaugural voyage. She had a multi million dollar refit enroute to Auckland. There were hundreds of tonnes of waste to be removed in a short space of time. To ensure we maximized the opportunity our team worked around the clock 24/7. Harry and I took our turn to drive a truck late Saturday and into the wee smalls of Sunday…delivering and emptying jumbo bins…..for more info see “Selling the Ssssssssssssssssssssssssssizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzle.
‘Upbeat’ is taking a holiday break and will be back Monday 17th January. Harry and I hope you all have a relaxing and safe festive season break with your families and friends………Cheers Jonesey
Harry the ‘jumbo bin’ hound reckons there is definitely a future in the waste game for a canine with an eye for the ‘brass in the muck’.............Seasons Greetings all Harry fan club members!

Our experience on the weekend reinforced the need to be constantly selling sizzzzzle and dazzzzle There was the team aspect with each member of our team going to the wall time and time again for each other. This impressed our customer and lead to extra opportunities and revenue as the weekend unfolded. As a result of our small team being committed and on the spot throughout, the original job doubled in size by the end of the weekend.
While most Aucklanders trundled past the dock oblivious to what was happening on board this monstrous ocean liner we were busy making money and galvanising relationships. I talked last week about this being a good time for doing business with the need in December to do 22 days budget in 15, ours was a prime living breathing example.
Think about how good it feels when you seize an opportunity and ride it hard to maximise your return. Reality tells us many are missed because we wait for the ‘bandwagon’ mentioned above and instead of backing ourselves we miss out. As the curtain closes on 2010 look positively forward to 2011 and make sure you aren’t one of those left ‘wondering what happened!?’
