Edition 73 Monday January 17th 2011
Hi, happy New Year , I hope you have all had a relaxing and safe Christmas/New Year break.
Harry and I had an awesome time soaking up some rays at the local beach walking and swimming and enjoying the amazing weather. Can’t believe we have lived close to one of the most popular West Coast surf beaches for ages and never really made the most of it!. So in a mid life/New Year crisis sort of way I purchased a boogie board and hit the surf…….ok so I got caught in a rip or two and there was a hint of panic and cramp but apart from that I was the man !!
The next step of the re birth of the West Coast surf hero is the dusting off of the 9ft 6 Hawaiian longboard and some surfing lessons from the local surf shop. I have already purchased the Tee Shirt so there is no looking back…..feel the fear and do it anyway….that is the battle cry of 2011 .
I hope you all had a bit of a break with friends and family, have a great 2011, cheers Jonesey
Harry the reluctant surf hound thinks its all a lot of hard work for a short ride really, perhaps he is right but looks like his alpha male mid life crisis dude dad is hooked for now !!.
“Goals, write them down;hang them up; watch them happen! Zig Ziglar
Yes it is that time of year again when there is a lot of talk about New Years resolutions, goals, dreams and objectives. A lot of talk but ……little commitment to action or to actually writing some of these things you want to do or become down on paper.
First step is to have goals, second step is to commit them to writing, third step is to check and update them regularly. In step one you must make sure your goals are realistic and achievable , no point in making them unattainable. In step two you must make sure that the written goal also has a deadline by which you will achieve it, this will assist you to stay on track and to prioritise your list in order by deadline. In the third step you must make sure you tick off goals as they are achieved and reward yourself. You must also not be afraid of resetting deadlines and adding more goals to the list as others are ticked off.
Goals are a roadmap, they are an ackowledged and self registered list of items you want to work toward achieving. Goals are not an annual thing , they are an all the time thing,an essential written record of targets that you need to be aiming at and reviewing regularly. So get cracking and either make a list or update/review a list and use it to give you direct focus on a huge 2011.
“A goal is a dream with a deadline” Sir Peter Blake KBE 1948-2001
