Hi , very appropriate heading today after the mighty AB’s took on the ‘Jones’ clan representing the fiery Welsh Dragons Sunday morning. There were no fewer than six players with the surname Jones in the Welsh lineup! Great game full of traditional passion with the mighty ABs prevailing to clinch yet another grand slam victory.
Continuing with the ‘importance of family’ theme I was jolted out of bed early on Saturday morning with the news that a close family member had suffered a massive heart attack in the UK! Thankfully help was close by and everything that could be done was and as a result he is now slowly but surely on the road to recovery. Another ‘wake up call’ and reminder of our own mortality.Life is short and needs to be lived to the full so don’t let opportunities to spend time with family and close friends pass you by, make the most of them and don’t have regrets.
To this end I am sure you like the rest of us spared many thoughts andprayers for the families and friends of the West Coast miners....treasure and enjoy family NOW, cheers Jonesey

‘Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; Working together is success” Henry Ford
Work place teams are like families, they either work well together or they become dysfunctional and struggle. Like our own families they need to be nurtured and developed. They too need time and energy and their existence and progress cant be left to chance.
There are a lot of similarities between our two families at work and home and the basic rules for engagement to give the best chance of ongoing success are the same; Communication, Cooperation and Compassion are my three C’s for use in both to ensure a foundation and environment for success is developed. The West Coast mining tragedy is a sad and timely example of all three C’s working under extreme pressure and evidence that when the foundations are solid they endure and sustain all even in the most tragic of circumstances.
My inspiration for today is taken from the Pike River story and my message and challenge to you all is to make sure the three C’s are an integral part of your daily commitment to both your work and home families……..nothing is more important.
