Family First

Edition 67 Monday November 15th  2010
Hi , I was honoured to MC a 60th birthday celebration for a special friend on Friday. It was a deeply touching and fun family occasion. For me it again reinforced my long held belief that there is NOTHING more important than family .Although I hold this view I sometimes get a bit slack and don’t visit or do enough with or for my family…………so………. Friday motivated me to pay a long overdue visit to Mum and Dad for a catch up (good timing as the annual inorganic collection was in their street!) . I also phoned my son in Australia to say hi and went with my almost but never quite got there sister in law to a ‘Retro ‘ fair which was cool.
Visiting and doing stuff with our families and special friends is the best tonic we can give ourselves and them, I hope you got to give and receive in similar fashion this weekend too….. If not then make plans to catch up soon especially with parents………cheers Jonesey!!!.
Harry the family ‘All Black’ hound loves catching up with Whanau too, don’t know if Jess, Molly, Kate, Oscar, BabyGirl,Harry II and Jemma are as thrilled but they get H time all the same !!!

New Zealanders love being the underdog, we like nothing better than being told we haven’t got a chance and then, totally written off, and from seemingly nowhere we get up for unlikely but spectacular victories!

The recent World Rowing Champs produced a whole bunch more kiwi world champions and uncovered some amazing young emerging talent. The Kiwis rugby league team thrashed last week at Eden Park went to the four nations final in Brisbane last night, huge underdogs yet they fought their way to an amazing win over  their nemesis  the world class Australians!. The All Blacks continue  to punch well above their weight!
One of my favourite last to first stories is NZ race horse Kiwi who was a distant  last at the final turn in the Melbourne Cup and then put on the equine afterburners to win and stun the racing world !!.

There are many parallels in the business world ,I am privileged to workwith entrepreneurial people  following their dreams, beating adversity, failures and setbacks along  the way to succeed against the odds .
We are about to launch an innovative service that many have said will never work and is not currently available for that very reason. We have a team of passionate people having a ball challenging  old industry standards and so called best practise.”who said you cant do that?”,you dont know until you give it a crack! Hey why not join us and introduce some new thinking to your  company/industry? Don’t let others deter you, if you believe and you are passionate you will find a way………………......Good luck.
