Edition 378 Monday 08/05/17
Hi,so there we were eagerly looking forward to a rare
opportunity for a date just the two of us when Murphys law and duty called!
Christine dropped Fletcher at his birthday party and was headed back for for
our romantic liaison when the ever present emergency siren sounded. She
dutifully spent the rest of the day dampening down hotpots at Piha after an
arsonist had wreaked havoc on the tiny West Coast settlement.United we stand and
thank goodness for the huge volunteer network nationwide who selflessly answer
the call to protect and preserve our communities.I am proud of my wife and
totally supportive of her commitment to the cause….the fire hot spots will be
dampened but never the romance!!!! J.
Fletcher
reckons two birthday parties in one day was a tough ask but someone
(in obvious demand) has to do it…so commit and front up he did…..its all about
pacing yourself J
Something
funny #1 happened to this Jones boy as Rocko(yes staying again!)
who we all believed couldn’t fly managed to perch himself on my shoulder…..I am
not sure who got the biggest shock!!.....you decide (see pic!!)
Something
funny #2 I saw a stop/go/detour chick dancing whilst directing
traffic in Auckland last week….no matter what you thought of the delay you had
to smile J
I hope you are having plenty of fun living life, have an
awesome week ahead.Cheers Jonesey
The Hendersons reckon the Barney and Rocko novelty will wear
off soon!! L

I was talking to someone last week about their job and was
intrigued to hear their entire office still stopped daily for morning and
afternoon tea?
I remember fondly one of my first sales jobs there used to be
a tea lady (and even a guy once) who used to make a pot of tea and religiously
provide it morning and afternoon. Not only was it a pot of tea but it was always
accompanied by biscuits (Krispies being my fav….two Krispies…too right mate!!)
Home baking from birthday boys and girls also a highlight on those regular and
special occasions!
There are many things to like about this and to lament about
in its absence from most work places these days.
Taking time out is so important but too frequently
overlooked….and actually getting to know the people you work with too is a lost/missed
opportunity for most of us.
The fast paced environment we operate in today has a lot to
answer for in my view. Most people I know take morning tea, lunch and afternoon
tea on the run without stopping!
This may be great for productivity but it is no good for our
well being generally in my view!
I work remotely for the best part of the week and always make
a point of taking time out.
Sometimes this is reading a paper in a café or a swim or just
making time to stop and eat.
Whenever I am in the office I try to have a cup of tea and
take time to talk to our team.
It is important to make and take time out every day so make
sure you do.
Don’t just sit there thinking, that’s a good idea I should do
that, make sure you do!!!
As my dear Nana used to say”No one is going to give you a
medal for working too hard”.

any direction you choose. You’re on your own and you know what you know, and you
are the one who will decide where you go”.Dr
