Hi,aches
and pains are interesting things, they tend to make you reflect on where they
came from!
On
reflection my latest ones are directly attributable to my part time 6th
grade soccer coaching role!
The
heart and mind are as willing as they were when I first volunteered as a junior
boys coach some 40 years ago ,now however the body is not as easy to convince
it can still be done!
Fletcher reckons as long as I take my
anti inflam pills and Mum applies the cream to all affected areas we (team, coach, masseuse, pharmacist
and support crew)should get through the season ok!
Something funny about being a hoarder is the sheer satisfaction and pleasure
when the time comes to use the thing you have always told people there will be
a use for.I have hoarded a treasure trove of nuts and bolts and other
interesting things that I often search through for a ‘missing link’ for self or
neighbours. The key I tell my long suffering and dear wife is the need to keep
finding and hoarding replacement stock :)…..after all you never know when you
will need that missing something!!
Having
a puppy has filled our house with joy and laughter but emptied it of matching
shoes and socks!Like having a new baby we have learned to pick things up off
the floor quickly and to make sure anything we treasure is kept locked away or
out of reach of mischievious sharp teeth!
I
hope life is full of interesting and funny challenges for you too……Cheers
Jonesey.
Kate and Lily reckon it’s a bit rough blaming them for
everything that goes missing!!!
“Sometimes
you win, sometimes you learn.”
The National speech final was held, the results are in
and unfortunately I missed out.
I was well prepared, full of hope and expectation,I
visualised myself realising my dream.
I was happy with my performance, in sporting terms it
was a personal best!
If it was a sporting event then my personal best time, weight
or distance may have been enough!
In the speaking world however there are a number of
variables that need to align on the day!
In my case this didn’t happen and as a speaking
professional I have accepted that and moved on.
I feel lucky and blessed to have such a loving and
supportive family,positive friends and colleagues.
There is one thing for sure the sun has come up today
like it does everyday so nothing changes.
Life does and will go on and it is how we react and
deal with what happens to us that matters.
Interestingly the events of recent weeks have allowed
me to reflect on this dream from the past.
I have been able to examine why it was so important to
me and ask myself if it in fact still is?
I have seen it in a different light personally and to
finally accept it doesn’t matter, other things do.
My experience gained over nearly thirty years of
Toastmasters membership is worth more.
So from the ashes of my long held dream I am hatching
an exciting plan for the future.
One that will see me utilise the wide range of skills I
have learned and polished for years.
In my speech I talked about the importance of creating
legacies that will last into the future.
I intend to practise what I preach and to indeed create
something for the next generation.
So instead of feeling gutted and disappointed about the
outcome I feel energised and excited.
Turning adversity to strength with a new and modern
idea means there will be plenty of winners!
There is therefore no need for any of us to fear
failure,it is just a temporary set back enroute to success.
“The
greatest test of courage is to bear defeat without losing heart.”
