Hi,there is only one thing better than a long weekend…..yes
an ‘extra’ long one!!I am enjoying an extra day today catching up on some stuff
after a particularly busy Queens Birthday hoilday weekend. They do say to be
careful what you wish for and we had a stark reminder prior to the weekend that
has given us an unwelcome chore for a few weekends to come! With the recent
cold snap we wished we had some firewood and then in answer to our prayers
along came the firewood fairy with generous portions of perfectly sized and
untreated pine blocks….yay I hear you say?
Alas the fairy was not that good on instructions and detail
and promptly proceeded to drop approximately 8cubic metres of wood on our
neighbours driveway!! If you have ever wondered what 8m looks like see the attached
photo and then imagine trying to move it! We are lucky we have an understanding
neighbour and others in the immediate area who also need some firewood however
we are still looking at a few weekends hard yakka before we have move Mt Piney
Block!...hmmmm
From
the Fletcher file; thanks for all the cool
building blocks daddy !!! Having endless fun with those, attending rat pack
birthday parties and getting Dad into the pool at swimming lessons J
We farewell our son Mark this week as he sets off to
Wellington and the next leg of his endless global journey.Nothing to worry
about on this leg after his most recent research into surviving on the smell of
an oily rag. Seems ‘dumpster diving’ and ‘freegenism’ are top of the ‘how to
survive on nothing’ list. It all sounds entrepreneurial and innovative however
I am thankful he will be in Wellington and not Auckland where his Fathers
dumpster bins would have been prime targets!.....Go well son!!
I hope you had a relaxing and safe long weekend and that you
make the most of your short week ahead. Have a good one …….cheers
Jonesey !!!
Harry
and the Hendersons reckon dumpster diving would be pretty cool fun….hmmmm
I was elated to hear that
the year thirteen Enterprise business students I have been mentoring won their
heat of the Dragons Den and will now progress to the Regional final.
There is nothing better
than success to fuel the desire for more. Winning is exciting and rewarding but
it is the challenge of going to and winning at the next level that should be
the driving force.
My personal goal for the
last couple of years has been to ‘Be Better’ with a focus on making everything
I do better than the time before or than it has been done by others to date.
To be working with talented
people and to instill this desire and goal within is hugely satisfying.
Winning isnt everything
however it is the ultimate goal we should all be striving to achieve. We need
to savour success and crave more of it. We need to want to make winning a habit
and to formulate a recipe for being successful.
We also need to accept
that setbacks and losing are temporary and all part of the process and
important stepping stones on the path to winning.
I always loved coaching
and playing team sport, working hard with others in a team to get the team or
an individual across the line to score or to take first place.
To me the adrenaline
produced from competing fuels the strength and the passion required to elevate
each individual above their competitor to ultimately allow the team to
collectively triumph. I used to totally focus on being better than my opposite
and helping my team mates to do the same. Clearly if we were all able to do
this the team would win…..we were only ever as strong as our weakest link !!
Crikey, what a buzz, I
cant wait to get out there this week and to WIN,WIN, WIN, WIN !!.. be better!

quits.”― Napoleon Hill,Think and Grow Rich
